Graduate School of Marine Resource Management


The Australian Maritime College (AMC), situated in the Australian state of Tasmania, is an Australian government institution of higher education providing maritime education, training, research and consultancy to the national and international maritime industry. It provides courses from certificate to doctoral levels in marine resource management, fisheries and ecology, marine policy, maritime business (including logistics), maritime technology management, engineering (naval architecture, marine and offshore systems and ocean engineering) and maritime operations.

AMC's main campus is at Launceston, Tasmania. A second campus, home of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Environment, is at Beauty Point, about 50km north of Launceston near the mouth of the Tamar River.

Research and teaching infrastructure valued at A$110 million, includes a Towing Tank, Cavitation Tunnel, Model Test Basin, Flume Tank, Survival Centre, Integrated Marine Simulator and four training vessels.

International students from over 50 countries are studying at AMC. It fulfils a vital role in attracting cultural diversity, commercial activity and multi-talented staff and students to the state of Tasmania.

AMC is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and International Association of Maritime Universities.
