The Management School of UFRGS

The Management School of UFRGS History: The Management School of UFRGS was originally part the School of Economics (FCE), which had sheltered the newly created Management Institute, in 1951. The University Council of UFRGS approved, by Decision N° 58/96, 9/6/96, the creation of the Management School of UFRGS, turning it into an autonomous unity structured as following:

• DCA – Department of Administrative Science
• CEPA – Center for Studies and Research in Management (extension and specialized services such as Applied Research and Consultancy).
• PPGA – Graduate Program in Management
• CEAD – Executive Development Center

Constructivism is the prevailing teaching method among the Management School faculty, making it possible for students to work with concepts, to interact with colleagues and to participate in business activities.

Management School’s activities: The Management School provides a number of services to community, among teaching, research, and extension.

Research: The research activities are divided into basic and applied research. The latter are promoted in partnership with companies. The academic research projects are connected with one of the School’s 14 research groups, whose projects are financed by foment agencies such as Capes, CNPq, Finep, and Fapergs.
