The academic study of business and economics has a long and distinguished history at Canterbury. In 2006 the College of Business and Economics, comprising the Departments of Accountancy, Finance and Information Systems, Economics and Management and the National Centre for Research on Europe, celebrated the centenary of the establishment of the Bachelor of Commerce degree at UC. This makes it one of the oldest such qualifications in the world.
