School of Management
![]() From its inception, the School of Management has aimed to create highly-expert managers for Polish business and local and central government. These aims were reflected in the setting up in 1990 of the International Centre for Management Studies, designed to educate managers and businessmen trained to compete in a market economy. This International Centre for Management Studies runs the Executive Master of Business Studies programme (Executive M.B.A), a prestigious degree course, considered to be one of the best in Poland. It is run jointly with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (U.S.A.), which ensures that students are in contact with the cutting edge of the discipline at an international level. Graduates receive degrees conferred by both the Warsaw University and the University of Illinois. Over its history, the School of Management has run a variety of post-graduate diploma courses, reflecting again its responsiveness to the social environment. New educational proposals and staff training were introduced to meet new challenges, particularly after 1989. One-year post-graduate diploma courses were often organised to meet the needs of particular professional groups, or those of the management personnel of particular institutions; there were also, for example, three-year B.A. degree courses organised for chartered accountants (59 graduates), or in financial management, to prepare staff for the revenue office and other financial institutions. |
