AGSB was established in September 1991 as a non-profit, private institution of higher education. The founding members recognized the needs of the existing student population and the educative demand for an American-paradigm offering undergraduate and graduate programs in business administration. A special emphasis on the existing cross-cultural commercial environment and the multilingual Swiss context is distinctive to AGSB's knowledge-based academic structure.

The nature of the institution allows our students to pursue an American education with the added-value to observe and participate in the world of international relations (e.g. United Nations, World Trade Organization, International Labour Organization, International Trade Centre, World Health Organization). Nestled between the lakeside resort communities of Montreux and Vevey, in the heart of the Swiss Riviera, AGSB is positioned to enhance its programs of study through the region's commitment to the world of international business.
