Established in 1984, Mercer's business school is named for Eugene W. Stetson. A member of the Mercer Class of 1901, Stetson was responsible for the first major leveraged buyout in corporate history. He negotiated the purchase of the Woodruff Group's Coca-Cola Company from the Asa Candler family in 1919.Stetson School of Business and Economics is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the prestigious AACSB International-- the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 418 of 1,500 schools of business across the nation are accredited by the AACSB.
