School of Business

Overview

Emporia State University’s School of Business prepares students to excel in an increasingly global business environment. With an enrollment of approximately 6,000 students, ESU is small enough to practice a student-oriented philosophy yet large enough to provide high-quality, comprehensive programs. Preparing students for tomorrow’s business world is the school’s top priority.

The School of Business is accredited by AACSB International. Home to the Kansas Business Hall of Fame and the Small Business Development Center, the School of Business has an excellent reputation with employers throughout the region. The school provides state-of-the-art computer and information resources to students.

The MBA program includes 36 credit hours of postgraduate-level courses, including accounting, finance, management, information systems, managerial economics, marketing, and quantitative methods. Elective courses may be taken in a wide range of subject matter areas. An increasing number of students choose elective courses in e-commerce, global marketing strategies, global information systems, and international finance. A concentration in accounting is available for students who intend to work as certified public accountants. Cross-functional learning experiences prepare students to work in cross-functional teams, which are increasingly important in business organizations.

Emporia is a friendly city of about 27,000 people, with all the essentials available conveniently and economically. Emporia is close enough to larger cities (Kansas City, Wichita, and Topeka) that metropolitan entertainment is available.
