Registering for the SAT

Registering for the SAT

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 60 minutes

Here's How:

Set a Date
You should register for the SAT at least six weeks before you want to take the test. This will increase your chances of being able to take the SAT at your choice of location and time. It will also enable you to avoid paying late registration fees.

Choose a Test Center
Once you have decided upon a date, you can choose a test center. SAT tests are typically administered at high schools, colleges, and tech institutes. It is a good idea to pick a test center that is close to your home. You don’t want to face a long commute before the test. To find a test center near you, speak to your school guidance counselor or click here to search online.

Register for the Test
To register by mail, you will need an SAT Registration Booklet. This booklet contains registration deadlines, forms, fees, questionnaire instructions, and other registration information. Your school guidance counselor will have copies of the booklet on hand.
