University of Huddersfield (HU Business School)

Huddersfield University Business School (HUBS) is a medium sized business school which means that we are large enough to support the full range of business and legal provision but we are small enough to know each and every one of our students personally. We really value our reputation as a friendly business school community and we are delighted to have been voted by our students as the best new UK university in 2006 for student satisfaction.

As part of a teaching led university we are interested in ensuring that we facilitate student learning using a variety of innovative and creative teaching techniques. We aim to provide a first class student experience whether it is on our Queensgate campus, in our University Centres in Oldham and Barnsley, further afield for example in Greece, Hong Kong, or Jordan or to those studying by distance learning.

The business environment is constantly changing and “business” covers a wide spectrum of activity locally, regionally and globally. HUBS staff keep up to date by engaging in a range of activities in the commercial world as well as through their research and scholarly activity. Core research themes in our work are enterprise ethics and environment.

Our projects range from sustainability work in Africa through to national award winning knowledge transfer work in marketing. Enterprise is supported more locally by our business generator and business mine activities where students can start-up and grow their own businesses. These activities are supported by a wide variety of funding sources which reflects our reputation in terms of supporting commercial development.
