Europa-Institut, Saarland University (Master of Business Administracion)

The Europa-Institut is located on the campus of Saarland University. Our students are also students of the university Saarland University is a campus university comprised of the main campus, situated in Saarbrücken, and a separate campus with the medical school and university hospitals located in Homburg.

The university was founded in 1948 with the support of the French government. Saarland's special situation at that time — its partial political autonomy coupled with its close association with France as a result of economic and monetary union — strongly influenced the university in its early years. The young university developed into a bilingual university with a European orientation.

An international focus coupled with a distinct European profile and a special relationship with France continue to be hallmarks of Saarland University to this very day. Examples of this are the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes with a special focus on French and/or European studies, in addition to the option offered in many programmes of completing a double (i.e. French and German) degree, not to mention active participation in exchange programmes of the European Union and maintenance of numerous partnerships with universities located outside of Europe.

The university's special relationship with France has remained the focal point of its orientation, this leading to the founding of the Center for French Studies in 1996. Saarland University's French expertise was also a key reason for locating the administrative headquarters of the supranational German-French University in Saarbrücken.
