International Center for Graduate Studies (ICGS) at the University of Hamburg (International Center for Graduate Studies )

Founded in 2002, ICGS is an independent non-profit limited liability company and 100% subsidiary of the University of Hamburg. Equipped with all the flexibility of a company and the close connection to its shareholder, the University of Hamburg, ICGS has created a unique model of managing innovative Master programs and executive seminars in cooperation with selected faculties of the University. Since its foundation, ICGS has launched four Master programs in the areas of international business and economics, law, Chinese and Asian as well as media studies. Most programs are taught in English and are open for BA or MA graduates from all over the world.

The dual degree Program Master/MBA International Business and Economics (MIBE) – China Focus was established in 2004 and has attracted more than 200 international applicants in its first 2 years of existence. Half of the 35-40 selected participants come from China, the other half from Northern and Southern America, Germany and other European countries, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Organization and management are international as well: The Program is jointly run by the Department of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Hamburg, the Institute of Asian Affairs (IFA), the School of Management at Fudan University in Shanghai and ICGS. The first two trimesters are taught in Hamburg, the third takes place at Fudan University in Shanghai, making this program a truly international experience with a multicultural student group, an international faculty and the possibility to study and live in two different countries. ICGS’ career and language services provide students with the additional professional expertise needed in today’s global economy.
